As there are so few poses in a restorative practice, choose your poses wisely. In-studio restorative yoga classes typically feature about five poses, but no more than 10. Light a candle, dim the lights, hide any laundry or mess, and prepare to relax. Set your phone to silent and keep it out of view (unless you’re using it to follow our flow). Practice at a time when distractions are limited and if you’re worried that kids, pets or partners might interrupt you, communicate that you need X minutes of quiet time. It’s much easier to relax when you are in an environment that allows you to. Make sure you leave a lot of time for savasana at the end. That said, you could do the flow again on your own holding poses for longer once you get the hang of them.
